History of the Rotary Club of Los Fresnos

Rotary International has been in the Rio Grande Valley since 1916.  Over the years most of the cities in the RGV have established their own Rotary Clubs.  For more than 40 years Rotary International has been interested in establishing a club in Los Fresnos.

On August 2, 2018 Andy Hagan, District Governor of Rotary District 5930, asked to meet regarding the establishment of a Rotary Club in Los Fresnos.  We met at Julia’s Restaurant where Andy explained Rotary International’s criteria for establishing a new Club.  In summary, our new club is required to have eight qualified members to be appointed as a satellite of an existing club.

The District Governor assigned the Rotary Club of Port Isabel as our sponsor.  Once we attain twenty members, we will become a full independent club.
